Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Die erste Übersetzung kommt von Joachim Uhlmann, Berlin, seit 1960 tätig als Lyriker (fünf Gedichtbände) und Übersetzer aus dem Englischen (z.B. Ambrose Bierce). Mitherausgeber des Jahrbuchs für Dichtung, "Speichen" (1968 - 69/71).
Die zweite ist von Bernd Lüttgerding, Brüssel, der 1973 in der Nähe von Hannover geboren wurde. In den Neunzigerjahren erste Publikationen im Salmoxisboten, Bremen. 2007 erschien Germar Grimsens »Hinter Büchern. Der Reigen. Ein- und ausgeleitet von Hexametern aus der Feder Bernd Lüttgerdings« bei Eichborn-Berlin.
Die dritte hat uns Günter Plessow aus Berlin geschickt, der seit 1998 vor allem metrische Lyrik übersetzt, u.a. Shakespeare, Daniel, Drayton, Edna St. Vincent Millay, E.E. Cummings, H.D. (Hilda Doolittle), Percy Bysshe Shelley, John Keats.
Die vierte kommt von Susanna Bummel, die in Nymphenburg lebt und an ihrer Doktorarbeit im Völkerrecht arbeitet. Seit ihrem 12. Lebensjahr schreibt die Volljuristin (LMU München) Gedichte, Prosa, Essays und übersetzt fremdsprachige Lyrik (Englisch, Italienisch, Französisch, Spanisch, Portugiesisch).
